Two Killed After Small Plane Crashes on I-195 in Dartmouth

Dartmouth, MA - A small plane crashed onto I-195 near the Reed Road exit Monday morning, leaving two people dead and shutting down a major stretch of the highway.

Emergency crews were alerted shortly after 8 a.m. and arrived to find a Socata TBM 700 aircraft down in the median, with surrounding grass and brush actively burning. Firefighters from Dartmouth and neighboring communities, along with New Bedford Crash Rescue, responded to contain the fire and secure the scene.

According to initial radio reports, two people were found deceased inside the plane. A third individual, who was in a vehicle at the time of the crash, was transported to a nearby hospital with injuries. Their condition remains unknown.

Massachusetts State Police and the FAA are investigating the cause of the crash. I-195 Westbound remains closed as crews work to clear the wreckage and investigators process the scene. Motorists are being advised to seek alternate routes.
